About tiny homes

appendix Appendix Q

Until recently TH have often been confused with Tiny Homes on Wheels. This is changing with the adoption of Appendix Q of the International Building Code across the US that allows a home of 400sf or less to be built on foundation.

Nine States have already adopted Appendix Q and the list is growing rapidly. It is expected that by the end of 2024 Appendix Q will be adopted nationwide that will create a boom in Tiny Home developments.

minimaxDnA miniMAX’s DnA

While we offer homes that are larger than the 400sf, Tiny Homes are at the core of our brand and products. Designing within the parameters of a TH offers multiple benefits in terms of spatial possibilities and code allowances.

What we do

minimum space maximum living

miniMAX was started by co-founders Jonus Ademovic and Christos Athanasiou as a design-based enterprise & extension of Archipelagos, their award-winning architectural & interior design studio based in New York City.

We design and make “kit of parts” homes that are fabricated offsite and assembled onsite on the foundation. Products range from 120-1200sf and are affordable, easy to maintain, with sustainable and modern design features. They are a perfect solution for the second, vacation, and starter homes for young families or retirement forever homes. Where allowed, they make perfect (D)ADUs (Detached Accessory Dwelling Units) that become an extra source of rental income or can serve as “granny flats”, apartments for grown-up children, home offices, or anything else you ever wanted to do if you had that extra space.

Our Story

When we started miniMAX in 2020, our initial vision was to provide solutions for urbanites who desire to have weekend gateways in areas relatively close to NYC. This was sprung from the desire for a sustainable lifestyle in tune with nature as an alternative to a hectic urban life. It was initiated while fully aware of the “Tiny Home” movement’s immense popularity and appeal as well as the commencement of the Tiny Homes legalization process in the US on a State by State basis. They are expected to be legalized nationwide by 2024.

Then 2020 happened…

What was initially a modestly ambitious enterprise with niche market appeal all of a sudden became a widespread obsession and so we had to adapt our designs and strategy to meet the demand.

Our focus is primarily on the North East US markets with proximity to NYC metro area, which includes Long Island, Upstate NY Hudson Valley, Catskills, and the Berkshires in Massachusetts. Our goal is to fill the market gap by providing newly constructed modern homes appropriately sized for efficiency, sustainability, and contemporary lifestyle

Fabrication

We’ve partnered up with the reputable fabricator, STECO Group, to make homeownership a reality for as many people as possible. We are interested in a high-quality product, one that can only be only as good as the quality of its materials that we’ve carefully sourced. The factory uses these materials to create a pre-fabricated panelized kit of parts that is flat packed and shipped to your site. This building system cuts traditional onsite construction time and labor costs by 50%.
